Gulfside Regional Hospice To Hold Fifth Annual Hike For Hospice This November

Grab your sneakers for Gulfside Regional Hospice’s fifth annual Hike for Hospice on Saturday, Nov. 12!
New in 2011 for the Hike for Hospice is a 5K Fun Run. “With the addition of a 5K Run to the Hike for Hospice this year, we are expecting a record breaking year for the Hike,” said Linda Ward, Gulfside’s president and CEO.
The Hike for Hospice will be held again at the Wesley Chapel District Park, located at 7727 Boyette Road. Registration and check-in begins at 7 a.m. The 5K Run begins promptly at 8 a.m., and the traditional 5K Walk commences at 9 a.m. After the run and walk conclude, both the high fundraisers and the fastest runners receive prizes.

If you do not have internet access, you can register for the Hike for Hospice by calling 1-800-561-4883. It costs $25 for adults to participate in the walk. Students (ages 11 – college) costs $15 and children (10 and under) are $5 to participate. All hikers will receive a t-shirt, morning snack and beverages with their registration.
“Racers and walkers of all ages and abilities – individuals, groups, and families – are invited to participate in the Hike for Hospice,” said Ward. “The goal of the Hike for Hospice is to increase awareness of hospice care in our community during National Hospice Month in November, as well as remember and honor our loved ones.”
All proceeds from the Hike for Hospice are designated for patients and their families facing life-limiting illnesses in Pasco County, as well as support programs at Gulfside’s Hospice Houses and Bereavement Centers. The Hike for Hospice, Gulfside’s signature fundraising event, has raised more than $250,000 for Gulfside Regional Hospice since it began in 2007.

Gulfside Regional Hospice, established as a nonprofit corporation in Pasco County in 1988 and initially licensed in 1989, serves more than 300 patients daily.
