Church Yard Sale A Big Success
By Virginia PelkeyTuesday, June 7, 2011
Blanton United Methodist Church had its last yard sale of the season on May 7.
The church is located at 17481 Spring Valley Road, Dade City.
People from the surrounding communities were invited to bring their items to sell. Vendors got to keep the money they make from their sales. They paid a small fee to set their table up at the yard sale.
A great time of socializing occurs during the yard sales along with making a little money and enjoying some good things to eat.
Ken Perry cooked huge hot dogs on the grill and sold cold drinks as well. We were blessed to have Carl and Nora’s musical group, the Zephyrhillbillies, join us. We’re grateful for their donating their time and talent. Several area musicians also came by to sing two or three songs while other people brought their guitars, mandolins and other instruments to play.
Mike Gaylor received a huge welcome when he brought his ever-popular Tony Stewart NASCAR to the yard sale. The roaring sound of his car could be heard from a distance before he arrived at the church.
The weather was perfect for our outdoor event and all those who attended had a good time.
