Thursday, August 11, 2011
10 year Alex Myers recently competed in the U. S. Open Karate Championships in Orlando, FL. This was the Zephyrhills resident’s very first time in national level competition. Alex had to compete in the advanced divisions, after being promoted into the advanced level (3rd Kyu red belt) only one month earlier. Alex still managed to win the 3rd place trophy in Traditional Weapons with a sword form routine that he learned from his Katana class at Spivey Karate, in Dade City. Myers also received a 4th place medal in Traditional Kata competition. “Alex is an outstanding student and we are all very proud of him,” said his instructor William Spivey.
