Pirates Playing In County 7-on-7 Summer Football League
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
Coach TOM MCHUGH has his Pasco Pirates participating in the county 7-0n-7 football league. Looking good so far is quarterback JACOB GUY along with receivers JANARIAN GRANT and RAHEEM WIGFALL. Depending on the offensive forward walls ability to give Guy time to throw the football the Big Red should be able to move the ball through the air this fall. TREY DUDLEY-GILES who has been slowed with illness this summer could be one of the area’s top pass receivers. He has recently joined his Pirate teammates in 7-0n-7 play.
Again with pressure on some young upcoming linemen the Pirates should be able to also move the ball on the ground with DAVID EMMANUEL and Grant likely to be the top two ball carriers. Look for the 2011 Pirates to use both offensive weapons this fall in an effort to win its fifth straight district championship. The Pirates will play in District 5A7 with Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Gulf, Hudson, Anclote, Fivay and Ridgewood
Wesley Chapel Looking For A New Quarterback
This time last year Wesley Chapel football coach BEN ALFORD appeared to be in excellent shape at the quarterback position. After making a decision to go with freshman ALEX MCGOUGH his back- up quarterback ZACK ZIFER quit the team and eventually transferred back to Pasco High. In McGough the Wildcats also lose a soccer and baseball player. Coach Alford wishes the best to the sophomore who is now throwing the pigskin around for Gaither.
The departure of McGough leaves the Wildcats with an inexperienced senior to handle the signal calling duties. ANGEL LOCICERO, who coach Alford calls possibly the best defensive end in the county, could also be his quarterback this fall. For a youngster just learning the quarterback position he has looked pretty good in recent 7-0n-7 action. Coach Alford and his coaching staff are also working with several other young men at the all- important signal calling position. With experience returning up front this will be of great help to whoever wins the signal calling job.
