Tranquil Pawz News:

It’s not your usual dog and pony show. No, it ‘s Tranquil Pawz Therapy Dogs Class #15 making their first visit at Royal Oaks Nursing Center last Saturday. And that’s no pony. It’s just Cooper the Great Dane. He’s a B I G boy!
Cooper and his classmates will make three visits as part of their six week training course to become Therapy Dogs. His “brother”, Max, a shepherd mix, was also there, along with Sabre, a big teddy bear of a Rottweiler. Then there are the little dogs: Smuckers, a yorkie-poodle mix; Ms. Beasley, a fluffy white Bichon; and smallest, but not least, Frodo the Yorkie, weighing in at five pounds. Therapy Dogs come in all shapes and sizes.
Dog lovers among the residents and staff enjoyed the visit. The dogs, while still learning all the new sights, sounds, smells and how to behave in different situations, have figured out that they are doing something special. When these dogs and their owners graduate in a few more weeks, they will be well prepared to visit various types of facilities as Registered Therapy Dog/Handler Teams.
Tranquil Pawz Therapy Dogs is an all volunteer group. Look for us this Saturday, September 25, at Paws in the Park in San Antonio. If you would like more information about Therapy Dog classes contact Charlotte Swindell at (352)568-7762 or aggybaby2@atlantic.net
