Medicare Annual Enrollment Period Poses Challenges for Seniors

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

Baby Boomers entering Medicare for the first time and others looking to change plans need to educate themselves now
Few would disagree that the Medicare annual enrollment period is a confusing time. Every year Medicare participants must choose whether or not to supplement their Medicare benefits and they have many options, most of them complex, to choose from. With the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act affecting Americans’ healthcare coverage, this year will be even more of a challenge.
“Now is the time for people to begin to educate themselves about their Medicare options and to ask themselves important questions in order to be prepared for the annual enrollment period,” advises William Hepscher, owner of The Canadian Drugstore. Annual enrollment runs from November 15 to December 31. “The decision process can be overwhelming with the usual changes to plans, premium costs or coverage,” continued Hepscher. “With the Baby Boomers entering the equation in 2011, many of whom are still employed, the scenarios can be even more complicated and need to be thoroughly reviewed before making any decisions.”
Hepscher recommends that people evaluate their situation and know how the new healthcare legislation will affect them specifically in order to make the best decision regarding their 2011 coverage. Those who don’t mind doing research on their own, whether they are enrolling in Medicare for the first time or looking at potential changes to their current plan, can visit www.medicare.gov. No one will be at a loss of material to review. Seniors will literally be bombarded with marketing information regarding their options in preparation for the annual enrollment.
Trying to sort through so much information in a relatively short time can lead to overload,” said Hepscher, “and can prove to be too much for many people to handle alone”. The Canadian Drugstore offers relief to those who are feeling overwhelmed. “Our consultants are certified and trained to help people maneuver the Medicare maze,” said Hepscher. “We help people ask the right questions and compare current plans and other options to help them select the coverage that best meets their needs. The consultation is free and is available to current clients as well as those who are new to our services.”
The Canadian Drugstore has been in business since 2003 and specializes in providing affordable medication solutions. They provide consultations free of charge at any of their three Florida offices in Zephyrhills, Largo, or Tampa.
