Three Brandt Siblings Hurl Wins On Same Day

Recently former Pasco Pirate right hander AARON BRANDT, current Pirate softball ace COURTNEY BRANDT and future Lady Pirate TAYLOR BRANDT all pitched on the same day and won. Aaron pitches for Saint Leo University and younger sister Taylor hurls in the local senior Little League softball program.

A beaming PHIL BRANT remarked to this writer last Friday morning; “talking about being a proud dad I was certainly one that day.” While Courtney will be a senior next year Taylor will enter her freshman year at the local high school. When teasingly asked if she would move up and replace her older sister next year she just looked at me and gave an are you kidding- type smile.

Softball Tournament Starts Monday

For many years former Pasco Pirate head basketball Coach WILLIE BRONER, and this writer, would greet each other with the expression; “It is tournament time and time for the real season.” Not that we devalued the regular season, but tournament time means if a team have hopes of a state title it is time to buckle down and play their best games.

This next week will bring the opening of the District 4A-7 and District 4A-8 softball tournaments. Pasco and Wesley Chapel will be participating in the 4A-7 tourney while the Zephyrhills Bulldogs will be vying for the 4A-8 title. Powerful River Ridge will be the favorite in 4A-8 while the Mitchell Mustangs will be the top choices in 4A-7.

Jake Schrader Hits State Record 18th Homer For SJCC

According to information gathered on the internet, and from TERRY SCHRADER, former Pasco Pirate baseball standout JAKE SCHRADER recently rapped his 18th homerun of the season for St. John’s Community College. His latest homerun gave him the lead in the Florida Community College Athletic Association. It also surpassed the state record of 17. With a handful of games remaining three different players are in the race for the state homerun record. Whatever the final total, it will be a new record. To get more information on Jake go to www.fccaa.org. In closing this writer would like to report that former Pasco Pirate and Florida Southern standout ROBBIE SHIELDS is now playing for the Port St. Lucie Mets in the upper level class A Florida State League
