Gulfside Regional Hospice Volunteer And Daughter Hold Book Sale For Hospice
Wednesday, June 15, 2011
Gulfside Regional Hospice was the beneficiary of a special book sale on June 3 at the home of a daughter of a Gulfside volunteer.
Barbara Todaro, daughter of Gulfside volunteer Jeanette Tatro, has raised more than $600 since beginning the book sale in late 2010 at her home in the Country Crossing subdivision. Todaro and Tatro have hosted four book sales already, and are planning a fifth in late September, when snowbirds return to the area.
Todaro is always looking for donations for the book sale. She said she scours local yard sales and receives leftover books for the sale. She estimates she has close to 3,000 books at her home with a wide variety of authors and topics during the sale. Prices begin at a quarter for a paperback book.
“The book sales are a way for Barbara to give back to Gulfside in honor of her father,” said Jeanette Tatro, a two-time volunteer of the year for Gulfside. The money raised at the book sale is donated directly to the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills, which is one of the places Tatro works as a volunteer for Gulfside. The Gulfside Center is a freestanding 21,000 square foot facility that provides the highest level of end-of-life care to residents of east and central Pasco County.
To donate books for a future sale, drop them off at Gulfside’s Thrift Shoppe in Zephyrhills, located at 36504 State Road 54, or at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care at 5760 Dean Dairy Road in Zephyrhills.
