Always willing to help the Dade City community, Ms. Jackie Adams, Personnel Director of the Dade City Wal-Mart store, was given a plaque from Sunrise Rotary saluting the store for its ongoing efforts and contributions to the quality of life of our community.
Every year, without fail, the Wal-Mart store has stepped up to the plate to assist Sunrise Rotary Club with its charitable projects. Monetary awards from the Wal-Mart Foundation are given to local organizations through a grant process and distributed through the hometown store.
Another special treat at the recent Sunrise meeting, held at Saint Leo University, was a tour of the construction site for the new School of Business Building. The founding gift of $4 million for the Saint Leo University School of Business Building was made by Phoenix businessman Donald R. Tapia who received his bachelor’s degree through Saint Leo’s College of Online Learning in 2005 and his MBA, also online from Saint Leo in 2008.
In recognition of his gift, the School of Business is being renamed the Donald R. Tapia School of Business. The University and Donald Tapia would be overjoyed if someone were to make another $4 million dollar gift to name the building housing his School of Business. Work has been underway on the much-anticipated building for the past year and completion is expected by this August.
Rotary is a thriving service club whose object involves the “Four-Way Test”:
Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all Concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
And Will it be Beneficial to all Concerned.
Rotarians are to ask these questions of themselves in their everyday business and personal life dealings. Living with these values enables and inspires Rotarians to look beyond themselves and help those in need.
Sunrise Rotary is a Breakfast Club and meets every Thursday at 7 a.m. except for the first Thursday of the month when they meet at 4:45 p.m. at the Kokopelli Restaurant in Dade City. Visitors are always welcome.
