Facing Forward with Hope was the theme of the Pre-Chapter Conference of the Federation of St. Scholastica held at Saint Leo University from June 15 to June 19. Sisters Roberta Bailey, Jean Abbott and Eileen Dunbar, from Holy Name Monastery in Saint Leo, joined sixty Benedictine prioresses and community delegates from twenty communities of the Federation of St. Scholastica for meetings.
On Saturday, the delegates joined the Benedictine Sisters of Florida at Holy Name Monastery for a Mass of Thanksgiving and the dedication blessing of the monastery’s new guest wing. When the delegates last visited the same site four years ago there was only an abandoned orange grove on the property. On this visit they toured the monastery completed in 2014 and the new guest wing completed in April 2017. The day’s event included the Blessing of the new wing and a Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Gregory Parkes, Bishop of Diocese of St. Petersburg.
