Second Tuesday – Florida Native Plant Society

The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at The Land O’ Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd/US 41, Land O’ Lakes, 34639, between SR 52 and SR 54.  Meetings of the Chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing. Aug 26 – Saturday in the Square

Main Street Zephyrhills has announced a new event for downtown Zephyrhills. The first Saturday in the Square will kick off on August 26 from 5pm – 8pm along 5th Avenue.   Event sponsors have worked with local merchants to have special sidewalk sales, open houses and door prizes. Live entertainment will be provided by The Time Travelers.  Several activities have been planned for the children including kids games and a pizza party.   Everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the festivities.  For more information visit www.mainstreetzephyrhills.org .

Aug 26 – Paint Your Pet Fundraiser

Allie Cares, a local charity founded to help with medical expenses for family pets, is hosting a Paint Your Pet fundraiser Saturday from 1-4pm at Pinot’s Palette, 1718 Bruce B. The Dade City Youth Council will host its monthly Market Place the first Saturday from 10am – 3pm at Hibiscus Park, 7th Street, Dade City.  This pet friendly, free event will feature local honey, homemade bread, home décor, plants, fresh produce and more. Sept 1 – First Friday Evening Event in Dade City

The Dade City Merchants are hosting the First Friday event from 5 – 9 pm in historic downtown Dade City.  This is a family night that includes entertainment with street musicians, refreshments, 20 shops, 19 restaurants and special events for children and pets.  Stores will be open till 9:00.  Contact the Merchants Association at 352-424-0601.

Sept 2 – Dade City Cruise-In Car Show

Sept 7 – San Antonio Park Bench Dedication Honoring Garden Club Founding Members

From 10:30 – 11:30am in San Antonio City Park, The San Antonio Founders Garden Club is having a dedication and blessing of a new park bench in honor of the 23 original founders who took over the beatification of the park in 1961. We invite the public and families of our original founders to attend. Sept 7 – Lions  Club Sight Program

The Zephyrhills Lions Club will be accepting applications for its Sight Program from 9-11:30 am at 5827 Dean Dairy Road, Zephyrhills.  The program is open to all residents of Pasco County in need of basic eye care.   Applicants must bring documents which can be found on www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/zephyrhills  For more information call 813-788-1441.

Sept 12 – San Antonio Farmer’s Market “School Supplies”

This Tuesday the subject is “Cogongrass Treatment Cost-Share Program”, presented by Mona Neville, Pasco County Forester.  Cogongrass is an invasive, non-native grass which occurs in Florida and several other southeastern states.  It is considered to be one of the “Top 10 Worst Weeds in the World”.  The Cogongrass Treatment Cost-Share Program’s primary objective is to reduce the spread of cogongrass to new areas by helping private landowners control or eradicate existing infestations.  Meetings of the chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing. Sept 16 – Int’l Coastal Cleanup Day

Pasco County is continuing to partner with Keep Pasco Beautiful in an effort to clean our roads and waterways. The event will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at locations throughout Pasco County. September 16 – Robert D. Sumner Memorial Golf Tournament

The event will be held on September 16th at Silverado Golf & Country Club, Zephyrhills.  Begining with an 8:30 am shotgun start.  The fee is $50 per player and will be a 4 player scramble. The pro shop can pair individuals to make a team if needed.  The player fee includes golf, golf cart and lunch. Prize packs will be available the morning of the event for $20 each (cash only).  Prize pack contains 4 closest to the pin, 1 long drive, 1 closest to the line, two mulligans and two drink tickets.
