Second Tuesday – Florida Native Plant Society

The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at The Land O’ Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd/US 41, Land O’ Lakes, 34639, between SR 52 and SR 54.  Meetings of the Chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing. Aug 9 – Business Beat Breakfast discusses Social Media

San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union will host its monthly small business Business Beat breakfast Wednesday at 7:30am at Scotland Yards Golf and Country Club, 9424 US Hwy 301, Dade City.  Featured speaker will be David Alvarez, owner of DCA Media Consulting, presenting information on how to build your brand using social media. August 9 – Open House at Keiser University

Keiser University is hosting a Back to School Open House on Saturday from 5 pm to 8 pm at each of its campuses.  The Lakeland campus is located at 2400 Interstate Drive, Lakeland. The Dade City Chamber will host its monthly breakfast Tuesday at 7 am at Rosecastle Assisted Living in Zephyrhills.  Featured speakers are Commissioner Mike Moore, Congressman Gus Bilirakis and Joyce C. Haile, MBA, NHA, CDP

Aug 18 – New Volunteer Training at Life’s Treasures Thrift Store

Life’s Treasures Thrift Store, operated in support of HPH Hospice, will conduct a Hospice Orientation session for prospective thrift store volunteers on Friday from 1:30 – 3 pm at the store located at 4910 S. Allen Road in the Westgate Shopping Center in Zephyrhills. This training is required prior to becoming a volunteer. Life’s Treasures is always seeking adults and teens 14 and up to join the team. Teens can earn community service hours required for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Life’s Treasures Thrift Store, operated in support of HPH Hospice, will conduct a free thumbprint art workshop on Saturday from 11 am- 12:30 pm at the store located at 4910 S. Allen Road in the Westgate Shopping Center in Zephyrhills. Thumbprint art is a great summer boredom buster for kids, and it’s also fun for adults. Sign up at the store or call (813) 355-4830. Sept 2 – Free Craft Workshop at Life’s Treasures Thrift Store

The Dade City Youth Council will host its monthly Market Place the first Saturday from 10am – 3pm at Hibiscus Park, 7th Street, Dade City.  This pet friendly, free event will feature local honey, homemade bread, home décor, plants, fresh produce and more. September 16 – Robert D. Sumner Memorial Golf Tournament

The event will be held on September 16th at Silverado Golf & Country Club, Zephyrhills.  Begining with an 8:30 am shotgun start.  The fee is $50 per player and will be a 4 player scramble. The pro shop can pair individuals to make a team if needed.  The player fee includes golf, golf cart and lunch. Prize packs will be available the morning of the event for $20 each (cash only).  Prize pack contains 4 closest to the pin, 1 long drive, 1 closest to the line, two mulligans and two drink tickets. There will be a silent auction, door prizes, 50/50 tickets and much more.  Golf application and information is available at www.pioneerfloridamuseum.org or by stopping by the museum Tuesday-Saturday between the hours of 10 am -5 pm.
