Second Tuesday – Florida Native Plant Society

The Nature Coast Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at The Land O’ Lakes Community Center, 5401 Land O’ Lakes Blvd/US 41, Land O’ Lakes, 34639, between SR 52 and SR 54. The subject of the Tuesday, July 11, 2017 meeting is “Forensic Botany: How Bad Guys Can Bark Up the Wrong Tree”, presented by David W. Hall, Ph.D. Meetings of the Chapter are free, and all interested parties are invited to attend, to bring questions about their yard, and participate in light refreshments and the native plant drawing. June 29 – Guns and Coolers Bash

Hosted by Ducks Unlimited and Al’s Famous Pizza, funds raised will go towards wetland preservation. Doors open at 6pm at 11931 Curley St. in San Antonio. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased at the pizza shop. Raffle prizes include six different guns, seven YETI coolers and a Swarovski optic scope. June 29 – Rosecastle Education Seminar on Balance Issues

Rosecastle of Zephyrhills Assisted Living and Memory Care community is hosting a Summer Education Series from 5:30 to 6:30pm with guest speaker Julie Richards from Therapy Solvers, who will discuss and answer questions about balance issues and provide a free balance testing and training.  The presentation includes a complimentary dinner.  RSVP to Jennifer Hancock at 813-783-8100. July 4 – Community Celebration and Fireworks

The public is invited to attend the July 4th Celebration at Avalon Park West, 5227 Autumn Ridge Drive, Wesley Chapel from 5 pm – 9 pm. The family friendly event will include food trucks, bounce houses, vendors and community performances.  Fireworks will commence at 9 pm.  For information call 813-783-1515.

July 4 – Sparklebration at Pasco County Fairgrounds

Celebrate with friends and neighbors on Tuesday, at the Sparklebration Celebration at the Pasco County Fairgrounds, Hwy 52, Dade City.   Gates open at 4 pm.  Admissions is $5 per person with kids 12 and under free.  Parking is $5.  Entertainment will include The Dennis Lee Show and Billy “Elvis” Lindsey.  Fireworks begin at dark.

July 6 – Public Workshop

The City of Dade City Charter Review and Revision Committee will convene a Public Workshop on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 5:30pm. Meeting will be held at Commission Chambers, City Hall, 38020 Meridian Ave., Dade City.

July 7 – Business Women of East Pasco Networking

The Business Women of East Pasco meet monthly on the first Friday at Scotland Yard Golf & Country Club.  Meet and greet at 11:30 am with lunch and speaker presentation at 12 Noon. July 7 – First Friday Evening Event in Dade City

The Dade City Merchants are hosting the First Friday event from 5 – 9 pm in historic downtown Dade City.  This is a family night that includes entertainment with street musicians, refreshments, 20 shops, 19 restaurants and special events for children and pets.  Stores will be open till 9:00.  Contact the Merchants Association at 352-424-0601.

July 8– Farmers Market

San Antonio City Park from 9am-2pm. Fresh produce, yard art, plants, jams and jellies, dog treats, honey repurposed glass items, dried herbs, herbal products and baked goods. There will be hot dogs, popcorn, coffee and sodas for purchase.

July 8 – The Lives of Butterfies: For Kids

Kids, come learn the exciting life cycle of butterflies from 10 am – 11 am at Zephyrhills Library, 5347 8th Street. Hear how they get their wing color, what they eat, etc. This seminar will explain many facts that you probably didn’t know about our beautiful friends. Adults, you are welcome also! The Greater Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce professional learning series, Topics @ Twelve, begins at 12 pm at the Chamber. July 13– BINGO in the Creation Cafe

Bingo in the CREATION Café at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills is a free event open to everyone and will take place from 2 pm to 3 pm on Thursday, July 13. Sonia Yaksich, RN, the FHZ’s Women’s Health Navigator, will speak on signs and symptoms of a heart attack in women. A few games of Bingo will be played for small prizes and cheesecake and coffee will be provided. Reservations are required by calling (877) 534-3108. July 13 – Bugs and Butterfies

Butterfies are not just another pretty creature! Hear a local Botanist discuss th importance of these insects to your garden’s success at Centennial Branch Library, 5740 Moog Rd., Holiday from 2pm – 3pm. He will alos be talking about the importance of bugs in our gardens. Come and learn about fascinating and diverse groups of organisms. July 25 – Air Potato Management Workshop

This workshop has been designed for home and property owners seeking information on control of the invasive air potato plant.  The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences will provide air potato beetles as door prizes.  Air potato beetles are an exceptionally effective method of control for the air potato plant without harm to other species.  Note:  we cannot guarantee everyone will receive air potato beetles.  In the event more participants register than beetles are available, they will be given away as door prizes selected at random.
